Trisk’s Content ID is about to run out and he may not be able to renew it, so I can’t decide what to do. I want to either tank or heal for him when he’s SAM, so I may level RDM and then WHM with RDM subbed to keep him alive so we can level faster and be ready for our static on Fenrir, or PLD so I can tank and somewhat heal too. But then again, I’m not sure if my Elvaan will make a decent NIN, since I know Mithra would probably be better…and the temptation is there to try and level a Mithra while he can’t play so that I’m ready to go NIN on her and have higher evasion and accuracy (I believe). I’d hate to leave Alinys behind though! Advice appreciated!
Can’t decide! No pics today. I took a screenshot last night of Alinys all geared up as a RDM while Trisk wasn’t about, but it’s at home and I’m not. So you can wait!

Trisk and I took some time out last night to do some crafting. I levelled up my Cooking to 3 using Carrot Broth and am moving on to Hard Boiled eggs, hurrah! Fishing was successful too, but because there was no bait on the AH in Sandy and the bait in Jeuno is double the price, we only managed to get two stacks of Moat Carp (and three pairs of Rusty Leggings) but it’s better than nothing. I sold my old Blind Dagger as well. I’ve decided to go PLD when I hit level 30. That way I’ll still be a fairly hefty tank and can heal while Trisk levels SAM to be a sub for his DRK.
But while we were crafting, we got picked up by a RDM wanting a party in Qufim Island. We decided that since we weren’t doing anything else, we’d go with it. Mainly killing Goblins and Giants, with the occasional group of bats, and it went fairly well. I was main tank, Trisk alt-tanked with me. Unfortunately we had a bit of a stupid RDM who decided that when the WHM had to leave, he would just cast Banish repeatedly instead of healing the main tank. So I died uber hardcore, which was harsh, because everyone ran away while I lay in a heap. Our SCH was a bit snooty as well, and kept moaning if we didn’t pull fast enough, but we weren’t pulling because the WHM was still on less than 50MP. When we did listen to the SCH he nearly got himself killed because he just nuked and agro-whored, then dropped party to go elsewhere. I eventually went to Home Point (still in Qufim luckily) and ran back to the tower. After that things went up.
We got a DRG who stuck with us for a while, Trisk got 25 and shortly after both myself and the DRG were 1 XP to level, which was amusing. We got the level and tried to push to get our RDM to 25 as well, since he was really itching for it. Our WHM left and we got another RDM, then the DRG left, so it was just Trisk, myself, two RDMs and a THF. We pushed on upstairs, killed more Giants and got the RDM about halfway to level then realised it was getting late and decided to go. But I’m chuffed that I reached 25 last night, and it was actually fun! Usually I feel like it’s a big grind, but hey, I got it.
And congrats to Eclips for getting to 25 in his party, and getting his Ghelsba key! /cheer
Grr, I get so sick of parties! I meant to post this last night but I was tired after spending most of the night camping Leaping Lizzy (who not only didn’t spawn, but was being camped by about six other people) and then going to Qufim Island and dying. We partied with a level 24 PLD and were trying to just chain Land Worms and Clippers, but as we managed to pull a few too many Worms and chained them all, we were on low health and a pair of Wights just charged us. Not the PLD’s fault (even though I had to hardcore alt-tank) but really, Qufim has been crap so far. I got insulted about my kit being too low level the night before, and I don’t understand that. It was a level 24 WHM telling me that my kit sucked, yet he had level 10 kit on, and we were all wearing armour and items ranging from level 17 to level 21. No, not amazing, but when this is your first proper character and you don’t have a lot of level 75s like these people seemed to, it’s kinda tough.

Maybe I’m delusional, but that and a Bloodbead Amulet were, in my opinion, quite helpful. In the end, with my Happy Egg, I could reach around 100 HP more than Eclips, and about 80 more than Trisk. And it helped in sticky situations. I’ve spent quite a lot on equipment, so I don’t know what people complain about.
It’ll be nice if we can get a static sorted. Right now it’s just Trisk and I for a little while, since we don’t have the same amount of time to play as Eclips. I’m at work from 11am-5pm every weekday, and play in the evenings, but until Eclips goes back to college he’s free all day, so he’s planned to just level to 30 and try and get his Carbuncle’s Ruby while we catch up.
So tonight is crafting night! I’m going to rank up my Cooking, since it’s about to ding 3 and I’m itching to start making us something useful, and then some Moat Carping to get some cash to feed little AzureStorm and TristanTorpedo (amusing name!). Might try and do some NMs with Trisk later on tonight as well. Wouldn’t mind getting something we can use, or at the very least sell.

I don’t believe I forgot to mention this! My Chocobo hatched about two days ago! I got me a baby girl, which was really awesome since Trisk and I want to breed our Chocobos but obviously couldn’t if we both got boys, so on Saturday night we sat with our fingers crossed that mine would be female. She’s called AzureStorm, and so far she’s slept a lot! But that’s okay. Can’t wait to get my Chocobo Whistle, that’ll be so much fun! I remember actually squeeing when she hatched. So far I haven’t been able to feed her because she’s been asleep, but pretty much all of our recent gil has been spent on Chocobo food. It does mean that last night our party commented that we could do with a kit upgrade, but to be honest, I’m wearing a combination of gear ranged level 17-22, whereas the WHM who commented on our gear was still wearing level 10 kit at 23…sounds a bit stupid.
Two levels last night in fairly short succession! We were all already half way through level 22, so hitting 23 wasn’t too hard in Qufim Island. We started on Clippers and Land Worms, chaining them like nothing else. Eventually we moved on to Giants and Pugils, but killed a few Wights along the way, and at the end of the night everyone in the party used their 2-hour. I was main tank for most of the party, which is good experience, but Trisk and our SAM member helped out as well. We also then had Eclips, a WHM and a BLM, with a WHM following us around and keeping us alive, which was unnecessary but appreciated. Once we hit 24 everyone trooped back to Jeuno.
Before departing, Trisk and I both managed to get the final item we wanted from the event before it ends.

Aiming for 25 tonight, and it shouldn’t be too hard! Also, Kally suggested a static on Fenrir last night, so we’ll all be shifting to Fenrir at the end of April. A party with a NIN/WAR, DRK/SAM, SMN/WHM, BRD/WHM and…I’ve totally forgotten what Rinion is subbing ^^; But RDM xD It’ll be awesome.
Well still no pic of the tit-head Egg Helm yet because I left it in my Mog House and keep forgetting to take it out yet since it’s pretty much useless, but maybe later. Trisk and Alinys got their first boat ride today, which was interesting, but a little nerve-wracking since we’ve heard quite a few tales of woe from the boat and sea monsters. But we had a nice enough journey there, and even got a few vaguely Titanic-esque pics as odd as that sounds.

We reached Buburimu Peninsula to grind Leeches and try to get the Ruby drop, but no such luck. We got harassed by a strange little Taru. Trisk and I were camping in the corner of a beach and Eclips Provoked a Thread Leech. It was hard to get the spawns because several people were camping them, but we just grabbed what we could. There was a lot of ninja’ing going on, with people taking Leeches as you drew your weapon on them, so it was a bit cut-throat, yet one guy decided to start using /slap on Eclips beccause he ’stole my leech’. He told me it was his leech and that he claimed it, and I said, “Surely if you claimed it it would be pink and therefore claimed, and he couldn’t Provoke it?” Instead of explaining politely, the dude started yelling (as much as you can on the internet) that it was his mob and that he pulled loads of them and one lost interest because he couldn’t attack more than one, and it had gone yellow. He only said this after telling me that it was red to him several times, and called me blind. Apart from the fact that I wasn’t in the vicinity when it happened…Either way, I said, “Well if you couldn’t take more than one and it went yellow, isn’t it fair game?” He explained how it was common courtesy, so I just decided to leave it at that. Sure, it’s only polite not to steal. But he then decided to start spamming me with tells about how I should go die and then mentioned how I was stupid for subbing THF. I just started replying with smiles. Then he started picking on Eclips for being a WAR/WHM. No, not the best combo, but we all fully admit we went into 
the game unsure what we wanted, and if we could change our classes without having to level them up again, we would. But the game is very forgiving, so I’m not bothered. Either way, he then harassed me later on via tells, I politely told him that it wasn’t my fault, and that I was just defending a friend, and he started being really eerily nice to me…
Regardless, we’re near enough 23 now, and slowly but surely approaching getting extra jobs, which I really look forward to. Crafting is going well too. Passed level 4 in Fishing, and almost level 2 in Cooking. Not great, but I’m getting there. Trisk is approaching level 2 in Smithing as well, which is cool.
My character does like to walk funny sometimes though, as shown in the pic to the left.
We decided we were sick of training in Jugner and trying to get parties in Qufim Island, so the three of us returned to the Dunes to kill some Thread Leeches. Through EXP chains (up to #4, best yet!) we reached 22 last night, all three of us. Had to save Trisk’s life at one point – he linked two Tough Leeches and luckily, just as he hit 7 HP my Provoke cooled down. <call14> has never sounded so good! I ‘voked it off him and he managed to get a few Cure IIs from Eclips just in case I lost hate. I was having real trouble keeping hate last night. There’s no point in there being a main tank when the three of us are WAR and we didn’t have a main healer or any other people with us for that matter, so we share the hate, but when I needed to keep it everyone else had clocked up so much enmity that there was just no chance.
It didn’t take long to ding 22 though. Our chicks hatch either tonight or tomorrow night, so we’re raising as much cash to get them some food! I can’t wait. Eclips will have his long before us though, since his hatched about two or three days ago. Eclips is a daddy!
Is it bad that we really haven’t done any rank missions? Or at least, Trisk and I haven’t. We’ve pushed so hard to do everything else in the game, like crafting and levelling and BCNMs, that we just haven’t done it. I’ve done plenty of quests and I’ve got my cooking skill up a little with Carrot Broth, as well as Fishing for Moat Carp, but we still haven’t even done 1-2 >.< Tried to do it last night and the damn scale just wouldn’t drop. Got the key for the chest though, apparently drops some nice magey kit that’ll do Eclips’ SMN.
I don’t believe I forgot to mention this! Trisk and I are becoming veterans of this whole spotting NMs business! We’d been warned about Lumbering Lambert by a 75 PLD who partied with us to help us get the items for our subjob quest, and he told us to avoid him at all costs, which we intended on doing…til we ran around a corner in La Theine smack into the damn thing. It was mildly entertaining however. Looks like we’re dragging Eclips down into our pit of NM finding as well!
Other than that, nothing more to report. Unfortunately we didn’t get the awesome THF necklace that Jaggedy-Eared Jack drops, because we never saw him again. I’d like to do some NM crawling, and I’d really like to finally do some Rank Missions, but it just doesn’t seem like we’ve had the time or something.
Hit 21 in Jugner Forest tonight, then died because Eclips was having issues with switching target which meant we couldn’t keep hate off Trisk, who had dropped to 30 HP due to a pair of Jugner Funguars. Sadly, Trisk died, I tried to survive and help Eclips, I died, both of us de-levelled, then Eclips died and managed to keep 24 EXP. Liiiiies. But it’s okay, because our Homepoint was in the Dunes, so Trisk and I just killed a few Gobbies and a Damselfly.
And to round off the post, the Choo Choo Train of Death.
THF is done for good. I don’t want to even see it again! It was a horrible class to level. I was talking to Trisk about the whole keylogger/trojan problem the community sites have been having and how some people have been losing accounts. He said if he were hacked he’d probably quit. I don’t think I would, I’d do things over, right this time. I don’t need THF…I was going to use it for DRK but I won’t need it since a) I’m not going DRK any more and b) I might sub something else…either way, I’d probably restart as a MNK and then sub WAR at 18 and take it to 30.
Sadly no screenshots again, but I’ll get more later. We were in Jugner Forest for a while, which was fun. Nice to be able to kick Gobbie arse, but I have to say Elementals really like us. Or Eclips rather. He ran the length of La Theine the other night to get away from a Water Elemental. It was quite amusing though, with the screams off “OMG PISS OFF!” while Trisk and I remained around the Ephemere.
The event is still going but I don’t really mind that we’re never around the Moogle to get eggs for Nation Eggs. I would like the furniture, they’re uber cute, but oh well.
Got a Shield Earring last night, not bad for my first tank-related kit. Extra HP will help a lot. With the Happy Egg that puts me almost 20 HP above Trisk, and I think it’ll keep going if I get the necklace Eclips got last night.
I didn’t want to post until I had an image of tit-head (Egg Helm) but apparently my Xfire deleted the screenshot, so I’ll get piccies later on.
Finally got our Happy Eggs last night! +1% HP and +1 VIT. Definitely going to be useful as time goes on, and obviously it’s equipped in our Throwing slot so it means we’re not sacrificing anything else. The tit-head Egg Helm will be useful for Chocobo Digging later on. Eclips got himself his Fortune Egg (+1% MP and +1 VIT) a few nights ago as well. I would work on it, but I probably won’t use it, so I’m going straight for the Nation Eggs. I want me some furniture! I only have a Bonbori in my Mog House at the moment.
Trisk and I started raising our Chocobos last night. Eclips’ should hatch today, he’s going to be a daddy! I can’t wait til they hatch.
And we finally hit 14 last night, so it was eventful all round. To the Dunes tonight to hit 15 methinks, if we can get a good tank, off-healer and someone to do more damage than a pair of THFs…And not be snooty about it. Honestly, we have more luck with newbies than with the oldbies. Most of the oldbies are actually extremely inexperienced, but I guess that’s just the Dunes. I had to laugh at the idiot we had the other day. Eclips pulled hate on a Battering Ram. We were only level 11 at the time, so we ran. Pulled it towards the Dunes since we were near the zone anyway. We were going to zone it. Running, he wasn’t taking too much damage, and our alt healer was keeping him alive. And then smart-arse WAR guy decides he’ll Provoke it. We were so close. He ‘voked, nearly 300 damage in one hit, one hit death. He was wearing a Vagabond’s Tunic for crying out loud. DEF: 1? Of course he was going to die. So we had to wait for half an hour for his PL friend to Raise him. My god. I hope I don’t ever seem that noobish.
…yet so far?
We got to level 13 on our subs last night. Soooo slow. THF is surprisingly crappy without SA. Once we hit 15 we can leave THF (and WHM for Eclips) behind until we hit 30 WAR and can take our extra jobs. I can’t wait. This event is really kicking off too, so being on our subs means we’re always fairly close to Sandy to get event items when we can.
