Last night we spent six hours in game, which is the longest either of us have done in one go for a while. First of all we did San d’Oria rank mission 1-2 and are doing 1-3 tonight. Finally, rank 2! I just want it done! The other missions do sound a little more difficult, so we’ll see when we get those done. While in King Ranperre’s Tomb we camped the Crypt Ghost and Spook. Crypt Ghost spawned two or three times but didn’t drop the Marital Slacks, and we killed Spook five times and he didn’t drop the Traveler’s Mantle. Disappointing, but we did get Battle Gloves from the chest. I think I’ll use those for my PLD! I’ll post an image of them later, but +3 Accuracy on level 14 gloves is pretty nice, especially since I fail at accuracy! Plus they have Evasion as well. Always good.
Spent the rest of the night (ie four hours) trying to do Trisk’s SAM quest. It failed miserably! We killed the NM in Konschtat Highlands with the help of a level 75 PLD and a level 66 WAR from our LS. The PLD wanted to unlock SAM too so we killed it twice, got the item, then travelled to The Sanctuary of Zi’Tah to get the Guardian NM. The PLD got his drop (after forgetting to use the hatchet on the branch several times xD) then it spawned. When Trisk went up to do it, it failed. Several times. I don’t know if it was a glitch or what, because we waited a full day, but he didn’t have the item to trade in his inventory any more, so both of us were thoroughly confused. The PLD was apologetic because he had to leave, and the WAR had already left long ago. We started to make our way back to Norg to get the Sacred Sprig and try again but got lost in Yuhtunga, despite having a map. That damn area is confusing!
Either way. We’re doing the rank mission tonight, getting Trisk his DRK quest and finishing A Squire’s Test II for me in Ordelle’s Caves. I don’t think I’ll bother unlocking PLD yet. I’m leveling WHM up to support Trisk anyway, so I may as well wait until I’ve got it to level 30 and can cast Sneak and Invisible on myself. Normally I’d just get the powders and oils, but if I’m going to be levelling WHM I may as well use Sneak and Invis. I am, however, going to unlock DNC tonight since I got WotG today! I won’t be playing it for a while because I’ll probably want to sub WHM or MNK, but I suppose WAR is a viable sub anyway so I may try it out. I’ve seen a lot of DNCs sub NIN so I’ll probably do that later. DNC is really only to entertain me when there’s nobody about to play with! Obviously PLD/WAR is going to be my main, and I’m surprisingly excited about that!
Since THF was already level 15 and I was bored while my baby was on his way home, I decided to dander out to the Dunes and play with THF for a while. I didn’t have much gil, so she was in basic kit (note: that would be Brass armour, not Bronze!) and I had to fiddle around with Trisk’s account to send myself some of his gil to get a new weapon. I eventually got to the Dunes and was swiftly picked up by a party with a WAR, RDM and MNK who all seemed new and friendly with one another. I was excited to do some leveling since Trisk wasn’t around and I was really craving from FFXI.
Sadly, my time and efforts were wasted, as the moment I joined the party, the leader informed me that the WAR was going afk for half an hour. I only had about 50 minutes to party (and informed them of this) so it didn’t really seem like there was much point in partying up, sitting around doing nothing for half an hour, then doing stuff for 20 minutes. I just left. Maybe it’s wrong of me to be a little miffed, but I don’t see why you’d invite someone then inform them that nothing was happening for the next half hour, when you knew said person was already on a time limit, but oh well.
I might log on to my alt and run around on her for a while, we’ll see.
On a sad note, AzureStorm injured herself when carrying packages, so I can only hope she gets better soon!
Alinys and Trisk are back in the low levels once again! We were mainly messing around to get my RDM levelled so we could use it to sub my WHM while I run around and support him later on while he’s levelling his sub for DRK. All sounds very complicated! But it was nice break from having to feel like we’re constantly rushing to get somewhere for whatever reason. It was relaxed and fun!
After I get RDM to 15, I’ll take WHM and run around with him. I’m enjoying the casting jobs, it’s a bit different from my usual slice and dice approach. I am really looking forward to PLD thoug
h! I’ll probably do the PLD quest whenever I get my WHM levelled, because then I can cast Invis and Sneak on myself to get through Davoi to the Well. Damn Orcs and Pugils!
Kally has now become Nelle (though I can’t resist calling her Nelly >.>) and has moved to Fenrir with Rinion, so I can’t wait til we can join them! Not long now. Having a static will be interesting, because up until now, it’s been either Trisk and I on our own, or us with a party. We trioed with Eclips for a while too, but now we’re getting a proper party going, and it’s going to be awesome!
Oh, and congrats to Eclips for getting Shiva (and setting the record on Phoenix! /cheer)
Now, just for shiggles, I forgot to change the .dat I was using when requesting art of Nelle and Al, so I looked all dominatrixy when running around as my RDM xD
First off, Wolfswift has had a bit of a makeover! I’ve lost all my navigation links but we’ll sort that out later…I can’t wait to get started on my own layout for this place. Waiting for art for that though! Apart from that, I quite like how it looks.
Last night we met up with a little Tarutaru called Mystix, whom we’d partied with the night before. He was looking for a party and was still level 29 like he was when we last partied with him, so we got together with him and a WHM we partied with in Qufim, and gathered a DNC and a SAM while we were at it, then headed out for Yhoator. Most of the camps were taken, so we hid in a cave occupied by one White Lizard and one Gobbie, but we survived. Mostly. Goblins really liked our DNC! He kept pulling from miles away just by existing, so he died at least three times, usually because someone was AFK when he accidentally agro’ed the Gobbie, or because someone else was dead/weakened.
We spent the whole night playing with Mandies and Gobbies, and most of the people levelled to 29 or 30. Unfortunately our WHM died and levelled down just as he hit 30, because we were all trying to get back to Yuhtunga and Invisible kept wearing off. It wasn’t very nice, but he took it well, and in the end we all blood warped. I had a great night, it was a good laugh, and we finally hit level 30! Extra jobs here we come!
Since Kally and Rinion haven’t actually levelled in a while, I’m not sure how we’re going to do the whole server move thing. I’m thinking that until we move, we’ll just level Trisk’s subjob for DRK (ie SAM) and I’ll take a WHM/RDM to support him (since RDM is nearly fully levelled for subbing), then when we move we’ll switch to PLD and DRK. That way, if they aren’t ready, we can wait on them, and if they are and we’re not, they can wait on us. But we’ll see what happens!

Okay, so last night was an awesome party for once! After not even levelling once in the party we were in on Monday night, both Trisk and I were beginning to lose hope. Luckily, just as I was about to log after searching endlessly for a party in Kazham, a NIN sent me a tell asking me to party with him. We ended up in a very DD/Tank heavy party, with two NIN/WAR and three WAR/THF. We took a SCH/WHM with us and headed to Yhoator to kill the Mandies there. Trisk and I levelled to 28 with no problems, and swiftly hit 29 later. We lost one of the NIN later on, and replaced him with a BLM/WHM.
There was a lot of banter, which I rarely see in parties, so we both had a lot of fun. Going for 30 tonight, and then working on our extra job quests!
After talking to the pair of NIN last night, and another NIN on Monday, as well as one in last week’s party, I’ve decided to postpone NIN for a little bit. It’s too expensive, and there’s no way we’ll be able to afford that. I was beginning to feel rushed, because I would have to go out and grind Yagudos to gather the necklaces required for the fame needed to get Utsusemi, but at least if I postpone it that option’s open to me later.
So instead, I’m unlocking PLD at 30, and going to hopefully be an uber tank! Trisk is hoping to unlock SAM, but his quest sounds significantly harder than mine. If I decide to go NIN at a later date, then I’ll do so and see how much I like it then. I think I may unlock several subjobs while I’m at it, but it really depends on how easy it is. I think I’ll try and unlock NIN and DRK immediately, but I’m also going to order WotG and unlock DNC as soon as possible, because I’d really love to give DNC a go soon. It looks awesome!
I do have pics, but they’re on my home PC so I’ll add them when I get home from work.
As for crafting, I still want to do Cooking, but Kally ended up choosing it over Clothcraft, so we’d both be doing the same. I’ve already skilled it up, so it feels a waste to leave it now, so I think I’ll just take on another craft and keep Cooking up for fun. And money!
Our Chocobos reached adolescent stages last night! Unfortunately they’re both yellow, but I love AzureStorm just the same as if she was another colour. We can breed the two of them together later and hopefully get coloured Chocobos next time. That’d be nice! Now she has substandard Strength and Endurance, so she’s doing well! I really thought it’d be harder to bring their stats up.
Still level 27, but we’re planning on getting level 30 tomorrow night. Kazham was dead on Friday, and we didn’t have time or facilities to train over the weekend. I’m looking forward to doing it after work tomorrow though. It gives me something to look forward to! Then we’re taking extra jobs. Looking at PLD very seriously and getting the quests sorted beforehand. Worst case scenario I fancy trying WHM, but we’ll see how that works out. I don’t know how our static will work in the early stages, but I can’t wait to move servers and get it started!

Tonight was Trisk and Ali’s first time on an Airship! You couldn’t half tell we were excited and new to it all, since we kept running from one side of the ship to the other to see what was on each side and below us. I was really impressed with the view to be honest. It was exciting, especially since we kind of didn’t have the gil for a map of the Jungle, but oh well. It was hardly needed.
We got to Kazham and had to spend about an hour waiting for a party, but eventually gathered a RDM and a RNG and asked a NIN to come over from Jeuno. It took him some time, and eventually we all got together and went down to camp on a ramp in the Jungle. Mandies were good EXP, but tough to take without a WHM, so we jumped at the chance to take one. Before she got there, though, our RNG disconnected and never came back, so we got another! Our NIN was a bit silly…he didn’t Provoke every 30 seconds so he lost hate quite a lot, and I had to alt-tank more frequently than I normally would. I don’t mind, but it also annoyed me that he didn’t have a Macro to say when he was Provoking and when his Provoke was ready. The lack of communication meant I Provoked to save our WHM a few times when he could’ve just as easily gotten the hate back. Then he got a bit lazy…He cast Utsusemi often enough, but he just stopped Provoking altogether at one point.
We did however get two levels in about two hours, which could’ve been worse. We would’ve done better if it hadn’t been for those meddling kids several other parties stealing spawns! But reaching 27 was nice, and tomorrow we’re going to try and get at least another level or two before Trisk has to go to work. Thirty by the end of the weekend we hope!
Can’t wait to move to Fenrir, a static will be godly. I’ve reconsidered job allocation. Rinion will be taking WHM, Kally taking BRD and Trisk taking SAM. I was going to go WHM but if we already have a healer and a BRD, a tank would be more useful. NIN is definitely going to be where I go late game, and I want it to be my main job, but I think it’d be nice to take PLD for a spin. The quest looks like it might take a while since I have to do a few others first…but that’s okay. I’ve also considered DRG and RNG thanks to Kally, but we’ll see.
So following in her little kitty footprints, I’d like to say my goals for April are:
- Get AzureStorm’s strength up
- Get Sandy Rank 2 since I’ve been lazy to date with Rank Missions
- Reach 30 WAR and get PLD, DRG, RNG and/or NIN quests done

We were beginning to stagnate around level 25 because we didn’t have keys to get to Kazham, and we had level 17 kit, so we were beginning to look silly. We had no gil to get more kit, and it was getting kind of crap. But last night I got Beetle armour (not great, since it’s level 21, but better than what I was wearing) and we started fishing for Moat Carp. We have quite a few stacks of bait to use up tonight, and should be able to remake any money I spent and even get more kit for both of us, thankfully!
Also, we travelled out to Giddeus to get our final keys. It was a bit of a disaster, as we brought Eclips with us and lost him through one of the holes in the caves in Giddeus, then he died twice trying to get back to us. I felt bad, but we appreciated his company. We both rolled on the first key that dropped (after about 45 minutes of straight fighting, not including travel time and trying to find spawns) and Trisk got it. Yay! So we kept going for mine, and about half an hour later it dropped. This was the main disaster. I was stupid. I forgot that Trisk already had his, since with the previous two keys I’d got them first. So I passed.
SMART.
Luckily Trisk and Eclips found it funny, and the next key dropped about 15 minutes later.
We got back to Sandy shortly afterwards, which didn’t take too long at all. A Chocobo ride back to Mhaura and the boat arrived just as we did. Short ride to Selbina, teleport back from the Dunes, and there we were! Excellent. To Kazham tonight then!
Last night Trisk and I finally got round to getting the Palborough Mines keys, which combines with our Fort Ghelsba keys. We’re planning on getting the Giddeus ones tonight, and will either be in Kazham tonight or tomorrow. I can’t wait, honestly I can’t. I don’t know if I want to go there with the kit I’m currently wearing though…We just don’t have the gil to buy more armour, and Trisk isn’t too keen on spending the gil we do have on armour we’re going to drop in five levels. I guess if we make it to 30 before Friday we won’t need to worry any more.
I got RDM to level 6, and am swiftly on my way to finishing the levels off. I am actually kind of looking forward to levelling WHM with Trisk. It’ll be a good change of pace, and hopefully the armour will cost less! Doubtful, but I can still hope. We’ll see what happens I guess. I might have to take some time off work on Friday, so if I do I’ll spend it levelling my RDM and trying to raise gil.
Also, AzureStorm has gained some strength, interestingly enough! I don’t know how, since Trisk and I both used the same care plans and took our chicks for walks at the same time, but I gained strength and he didn’t… Oh well. They should turn into adolescents next Tuesday, I’m so excited! Can’t wait to see if she’s going to be coloured. I hope so! Anything…though blue or black would be especially nice!
Trisk and I went to Fort Ghelsba last night to get our Kazham keys. We had a lot more luck with the spawns in the grotto though, and within half an hour or so both of our keys had dropped. But we had no map, and getting out was terrible! Eventually we died because, well, we got so frustrated with trying to weave through spawns of orcs that we just decided to charge and see what happened. Since Sandy don’t own Ronfaure any more (goddamn Bastok!) we couldn’t use our Return Rings (let’s not mention how Trisk had forgotten to bring his…). We managed to make an uber Orc train though!

Got us back to Sandy quickly enough! AzureStorm is still asleep and starving, but I don’t want to wake her. Wee T (as we’re calling TristanTorpedo) is doing great. Can’t wait to see what colour they’ll be! I’m hoping for black. I won’t mind though, but a coloured would be nice! Can’t wait to breed them either.
We then made for our trip to Windurst to get the Giddeus keys and for me to join the Cooking and Fishing guild, which we did. Insect Balls are a rip off there! We never got to Giddeus because we were tired afterwards, but I did go and re-explore Windy since it had been ages. An amusing conversation in LS chat after Eclips had to party with someone who couldn’t speak English, but whose ‘future wife’ was English:
