I’m definitely missing how rewarding FFXI was.  I think Eclips and I will play again together, but he’s now playing WAR as well.  I’m playing a Dark Elf Witch Elf (who is awesome!) on Finuval Plain, but I’ve started on Eltharion and Alarielle as well, because a lot of my friends are playing on Eltharion and I fancy roleplaying on Alarielle.  I think Eltharion will be my permanent home, and I’ll be playing it more permanently.  I have a Dark Elf Witch Elf and a Dark Elf Sorceress there.  If anyone who reads this (such as the guys from Naradra’s LS on Phoenix!) is playing WAR, let me know!

Absolutely loving it, though FFXI still has my heart as well.  I can’t wait to get my BST on the way again.  I think Eclips misses his SMN too.  He’s playing a Chaos Marauder and Trisk is playing a Chaos Chosen at the moment, though Eclips is looking at Goblin Squig Herder.  We’ll see what happens!

Also, I started playing Eve Online recently, and am doing great.  Anyone who plays and is interested, let me know.  I ordered Age of Conan last night as well, just because I’ve seen a lot of people playing it at work and they all seem to be enjoying themselves, so I thought why not?  I’ll give it a go and play with my friends since they all seem interested.

But FF is still too enjoyable for me to leave.  Until Trisk is back on track with his final assignments, I created a cute little Mithra MNK.  <3

Anyway, we replaced him with a SMN and fought on, and things went pretty well.  Most people in the party leveled and eventually the night came to a close.  Hoping to reach 24 or 25 tonight.  As long as we’re 30 by the end of next week, I’m happy.  I see it happening, because Kazham has such awesome XP and we never had problems getting parties before, and with a WHM and DRK pair it should be vaguely easy.

I’m really excited, because tons of our friends IRL are joining the game soon.  It’ll be nice to get them in SnappyJaws.  A big thank you to Valdium and Talithia for coming all the way to Qufim and giving us our new pearls, that was nice.  And the help was greatly appreciated while we were one party member down!  Much love.

Trisk and I have decided that sometime in the future we’ll duo SMN.  We probably can’t do it alone, but it’ll be nice to get the summons together.

I leveled up then Trisk leveled shortly afterwards.  Not too bad if you ask me!  We stayed a little longer but our plans for another half an hour were dashed when Mr No-Sub-Job leveled and said, “I’m going now bye.”  and just shut down.  The whole party was in a sour mood for being used for a level, but we found his replacement, and in the time it took them to get to us it was time for us to find our replacements too, so we did.

Good end to a good night.  We headed back to Sandy to check on our Chocobos, and mine was lovesick.  Its Endurance has dropped due to me trying to level Discernment to teach it abilities, but Discernment is still Poor, despite Endurance dropping from Above Average to A Bit Deficient.  Lame.  Either way, we then went and got the Jugner Outpost, since Sandy never owned it in Phoenix, and then duo’ed there for a while and made about half of our next level.  I think we’ll go back on again later.

“I’m logging.  You took too long.”  I said that I had warned him we’d take a while since we were running from Sandy, and he said, “Yeah, I guess, I’m sorry.”  Fair enough.  I told him it was nice to meet him. Then he runs past us in a party.  Logging clearly worked out well for him!  I said, “Why didn’t you just tell me you had another party?  I don’t mind.”  He said, “I’m not in a party.”  Don’t lie dude.  It’s pretty obvious when you’re darting about with people in Qufim smacking stuff.

Anyway, we gathered a party and our tank had to go get stuff from Sandy, then our RDM needed to get dinner, so all in all, an hour and a half after we got the party sorted we finally got playing.  And our RNG died because of a pair of Giants.  So getting him a Raise was fun, then we headed to camp Land Worms and Clippers.  It was fine for…two kills.  Then someone pulled one Clipper and our RNG pulled another (since he was the one doing the pulls) and the party wiped.  It was more than a little harsh.  Trisk and I, and the RDM, had Reraise (due to scrolls on our part) and so we were up shortly, but by that stage it was nearly 1am so there wasn’t much point in playing since we both need to go to bed for college/work.  Wholly dissatisfying!  But thanks to Val and Nadime for putting up with us and being friendly and fun.  I hope to party with both of you soon, and I hope Nadime had a good time on her first tip to Qufim!

Why is it so hard to get to 30 on Fenrir?  -shakes fist-

Hit level 18 WHM and DRK in the last week or so, which is good progression.  Once we actually get a party, moving up in levels shouldn’t be difficult, but at the moment we’re finding that parties are scarce.  The last few nights we camped to get something I wanted ie Zealot’s Mitts, and kept the lookout for Dunes or Qufim parties, and found nothing.  Trying to get a party to kill Beach Pugils in the Dunes til we hit level 19 and then move onto Qufim to get Clippers and Land Worms, but there just seem to be so few people seeking, and those who are aren’t around our level range.

But we moved to Fenrir on Tuesday, and tried to surprise Nelnel with it last night by sending her a present.  Sadly she caught me logging on first, but that seemed a surprise in itself.  I don’t know how she managed it considering I was /anon and Invisible, but she spammed me with tells despite that.  She wasn’t even in the same area.  She’s just a little ninjacat.

Tonight we’re hoping to hit 20-22 like we planned to do last weekend.  I was almost swayed by my little Mithra character, because she’d make such an uber PLD, but I’ll just level her in downtime and see if I can catch up.  It shouldn’t be too hard seeing as Trisk is working on Friday nights.

To be honest, it was me or them. The rest of the party laid into him for not provoking, and the other DRK said, “See, that’s what happens when you’re not careful. You nearly kill us and then when the WHM tries to save our lives, you get her killed.” They got into an argument, I told them it didn’t matter, it was a gamble anyway since Benediction pulls so much damn hate, and that at least only I died. I don’t know what happened to the Goblin in the end.

Trisk went afk while we waited for a Raise, and the other DRK got restless and pulled a tough Hare. Which linked. He died, the RDM died, the SAM ran away and got a teleport back to his home city to switch to WHM just as the WAR buggered off and died too. Then the Hares came back and killed our afk Trisk. I was a bit annoyed, but it was okay. Except the WAR went to homepoint and ran through the tunnels and brought bats, which, when we were Raised, arrived just in time to kill the DRK and myself again because we were resting, unaware that we had presents coming.

Trisk jokingly called him Batman, and he left, calling everyone but myself and the SAM (or WHM as the case may be) ‘queer’. Lovely. We replaced him swiftly with a PLD and got to level 13 much quicker without him, though I’m used to at least two levels in a few hours when you have a good party. Oh well, here’s to new things!

Got Traveler’s Mantle to drop, I lost count of how many failed attempts we had. Also got Martial Slacks at exactly the same time. They apparently go for 20k in Sandy, but I doubt they’ll sell for that. Worth trying anyway! Keeping the Mantle for now, but may sell it on as it’ll be helpful in getting us gear later on. Not long til server transfer! I get paid on either the 30th April or 1st May, so that’ll be when we transfer since I barely had enough money in my bank to get Nelnel a birthday present! I hate being broke.

First of all, nobody around our level range.  So we camped Spook for a while as our level 30s.  No drop, and I ended up talking to a GM about a gilseller because he’d happily announced himself.  Killed Spook a few more times, still no drop, so we went to train in La Theine.

Picked up immediately by a level 10 MNK.  He/she had a party with two BLMs in the Dunes.  We joined happily, and asked who we were getting to tank.  The MNK said, “I’m the tank!”  I was dubious, and asked if they were sure they could tank as a MNK, especially at this level, and they assured me that they could.  I was still a bit confused, but put it down to inexperience on my part and went with it.  We soon recruited a DNC, and went to a camp with Lizzies.  First pull, practical wipe.  The MNK brought one back out of my range, so I had to run closer.  I cast Dia just for good measure, it went well.  Just as I finished casting, the MNK was hit and dropped to less than half health…in one.  I start casting cure.  MNK dies before casting finishes, Lizzy agros on me.  Trisk tries to keep it off me, but as a DRK had very little defence and isn’t really built for alt-tanking.  We were told to deny any requests asking him to tank, but here we are stuck with it.  Let me now mention, the MNK is wearing level one RSE.  I’m so wholly unimpressed it’s unreal.  The ‘tank’ is dead.  The DD is dead.  The DNC is running for his life.  The two BLMs panic and zone, and I follow, with agro, still unimpressed.

At this point, I say to the MNK, “Okay, I did say MNKs don’t usually tank, but you’re not even vaguely built for it.  Can we please get another tank now?”  But our party is full and they don’t want to lose anyone.  I feel stupid for allowing a MNK to try and prove me wrong, but it’s all about learning.  I know now I won’t be giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, it’s just not worth it.

I tell the MNK that they need to upgrade their kit.  The response is, “But I’m really close to getting my next level stuff.”  I tell them that RSE really isn’t enough, and they get mopey.  Trisk gets killed again because one member decided to warp back to Sandy.  Trisk decides it’s enough, tells them he’s leaving, shuts down the game.  I tell them I’m going too, because the party isn’t working out and my boyfriend just died and is 2exp from delevel.  They get bitchy.  I give them as polite advice as I can muster, ie, “I’m leaving now, this isn’t working out.  Get yourselves a tank if you want the party to work – try for PLD if possible.”  Then I left.

I suppose it’s partially my own fault but meh.

Last night we started DRK and WHM, and reached level 7 in like an hour. It was awesome! Going for at least level 10 tonight. Hopefully we’ll soar up to 30 in short order and then I can do my PLD quest with my newly acquired Invis and Sneak! That should make it even easier. Then the server move should follow very shortly afterwards, and we will be able to take up PLD and SAM! I’m extremely excited. I’m surprised at how much PLD really appeals to me, considering I usually hate the job.

Also, AzureStorm reached adult stage last night! She’s looking all big and golden. They grow up so fast! I was really impressed, and immediately got started on trying to get my Chocobo Whistle. I wasn’t too confident since Trisk had already tried earlier in the day and didn’t manage to get his, but decided it was worth giving it a go anyway. So I took her for a long walk, ended up in Jugner Forest, waited til she was looking the other way, and oh, would you look at that? I found a Dirty Handkerchief! So I handed it in and got given my Chocobo Whistle!

I can’t wait to try it out. I want to see how fast my little girl is!
