Our dearest Eclips has finally joined us on our travels. His brief time away in Windurst is over, and I think he feels better for it. I think his Bastok roots are showing through a bit, but he’s still determined he’s a San d’Orian at heart. It makes me smile, but no doubt he’ll have something to say about my accusations. He’s been the main one to bring enemies to us. Sitting by a campfire while he runs off into the Dunes looking for something to pick on is my idea of training. Sometimes it backfires, as he tends to get a little enthusiastic and bite off more than he can chew. Trying to prove Trisk wrong by bringing a Bogy back was not our idea of fun.
He did, sadly, pay for it. Death due to apparently angering three Goblins while we were running back to our campsite was not exactly appreciated, less so as we didn’t even notice they were behind us til we stopped by the dregs of the fire. He fell over very quickly, much to the disappointment of the passing adventurer who stopped to help. Dremora, a white mage who happened to follow us out, shook his head in amazement at the inconvenience, but proceeded to laugh it off. I’m not sure if Eclips was laughing or crying, but we enjoyed it nonetheless.

Nearly at the point of taking on a second job, and I am extremely excited about it. We have pushed beyond our eighteenth season without intending on it, and are swiftly approaching our twentieth, but we are still collecting the components we need to hand in before being permitted to train in another job. It will be interesting, but I’m sure we’ll make it soon.

((Before I begin with tonight’s post let me tell you that I have stolen my dear Kally’s theme because she managed to nab the only pretty one there was xD But I will be changing it when I can write my own. Also, she seems to have lost interest in FFXI so I’m sure she’ll understand~))
Perpetually being knocked unconscious or even killed by Goblins is getting fairly tiresome. Trisk and I are working our hardest to scrape together what kills we can from the Dunes, but there’s always bigger fish out there (figuratively speaking, before Kahlan gets too excited) who are willing to steal creatures from our grasp and definitely too many things out there that are just too difficult for us to take on. Neither of us were very impressed at having to be rescued by a group of more experienced adventurers. I am sure it happens to everyone, but even so, it is just as frustrating. It feels like we haven’t actually gotten anywhere in our training in days.
“There’s a Hill Lizard just beyond that outcrop,” he told me, pointing just past a little copse of palm trees. I was eager, we both were, and we pressed onwards thinking the lizard would make good prey. Perhaps it would even have something of value on its corpse. No such luck, or rather, we never got to find out. Goblins seem to camp every corner and every shadow, so we ran around the cliff-face only to be attacked by not only the lizard we spotted, but one of his companions and a Goblin. We ran, but unfortunately even Elvaan legs cannot carry us faster than a Goblin. I wish I knew why we were cursed with such slowness, since we have much longer legs than any of the little bastards who chased us, but it must be one of those ‘unsolved mysteries’ people natter on about.
Perhaps we will make more progress next time we venture out.

We learnt a lot today. After finding a Mithra and Tarutaru to travel around with, we discovered they were much more experienced in Vana’diel than we were. So many people were born here in some place or another, whereas both of us are foreigners as far as they’re concerned. I bet none of them have even heard of Tamriel before, not that it really matters. We rarely talk about it anyway. Luckily, the Tarutaru was glad to lend a helping hand, whereas the Mithra was more than a little snooty. She wasn’t the most pleasurable company, but she was useful in defending us.
We finally trained into our sixteenth season, as long as it seemed to take, and are well on our way into the seventeenth. It’s rather exciting to think that soon we can travel to Selbina and receive the opportunity to train in another profession, but that won’t be happening until later I think.
It was nice to finally return to our beds at the inn in Port San d’Oria, as we’ve been camping out in the Dunes recently and are finding it particularly unnerving. Also, sand gets everywhere. There wasn’t much sand in Cyrodiil, or on most of Tamriel as a whole. Cyrodiil was a lush kingdom, only the drier areas of Tamriel had deserts, and we had the pleasure of never travelling to them.

We ventured into the Valkurm Dunes for the first time a few days ago. It seemed like natural progression to go directly south, since we were teetering on the edge of the mountain pass anyway, slaying Funguars in the forest. Eclips was right, it was necessary to shield one’s eyes when the sun came up over the Dunes. The sand glowed almost supernaturally white, and several times we thought it best to turn back, particularly when we saw a fellow adventurer fall to a Goblin not far from where we were.
I admit fear gripped slightly at our hearts, but there was no use losing faith. The training in La Theine had gone a little sour, and we were finding we weren’t actually gaining much experience killing the creatures, so moving on seemed the most logical thing to do. Of course, the pair of us found it difficult to attack anything without having to run for our lives, and after being jumped by a Goblin when we were happily making our way to the Outpost, we both fell from battle and decided that things were not working out.
We left a post on the notice board at the Outpost, asking for a party of adventurers whom we could train with, and then began slaying Sand Hares. They were difficult, but definitely worthwhile. I picked up a few cabbages while fighting, something to begin my cooking career, and then we were picked up by a party of four companions. A Tarutaru White Mage named Jedrade, an older, wiser Hume trained in the art of white magic and hand-to-hand combat called Dahkron and a Ninja named Alethia. We trained heartily on Goblins and Hill Lizards, and Alethia managed to gain a whole season of training, while Trisk and I lagged slightly behind. We are, however, approaching our sixteenth season of training, and are greatly excited about finally being accepted to train in another job for a while. We have both chosen to aspire as thieves for a while, however bad that will be for attracting other people to train with us.
Either way, our party was very successful, with many crystals as spoils of war, and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It was our second party, and our first successful one at that, and I think I would like to train with all three of them again. At a later point we did attract a particularly impatient individual, one whom I didn’t enjoy partying with, but I don’t remember his name. He had a habit of charging into battle without the rest of us following because we already had tactics that we were using and he clearly didn’t appreciate them.
Anyway, we shall be training again later in the afternoon, I feel, but it is time for me to close this chapter once again.

((From now on my journal shall be In-Character, because well, that’s far more fun! Feel free to continue commenting OOC, I don’t mind ^^))
Why does it always rain on La Theine? Trisk and myself ventured there a few nights ago. We weren’t sure where the best place to train was, but it seems it’s a bit too early in our careers as warriors to venture to Valkurm Dunes. I had heard many bad things about La Theine, and how it was quite a frightening place to venture on your own, but it was directly south of where we were already training, so I assumed it would be okay. Sure enough, we have reached our 13th season of training from slaying many Goblins and Orcs, with a mix of sheep and hares in there.
A Strolling Sapling looked at Trisk funny, so we ended up killing him and his entire family while we were at it. A bit harsh, you might say, but they were worth the trouble for a while, then they stopped being so fun to hassle. Try telling Trisk that! Either way, after a few close encounters with the Akbaba of La Theine, we managed to gather enough funds from our spoils of war to kit ourselves out in Scale Mail with new weapons. This week has been good, so after we finished our 13th season, we decided to retire to our living quarters and relax.
The weather is probably not much better today, but I am looking forward to pulling my armour together and getting back out into the field. Not long until we can find some other companions to accompany us in our battles. Soon, Eclips will be joining us, and that will be so much more fun.
I must admit, I miss the Imperial City, but I don’t think I’ll go into detail about that. The wounds of our exile are still fresh in my mind and my heart. Trisk doesn’t say it, but I think he misses home too. I don’t think we’ll ever return, and San d’Oria is slowly beginning to feel like a home away from home. We’ll get used to it.
Must run now though, my love has woken, I think we’ll go down to the tavern and get something fishy for breakfast!
Bad little bunny that he is. Trisk and myself decided, out of curiosity, to take him on, even though we knew fine rightly we couldn’t take him on our own. We’re both level 8 now, and well on our way to 10. Hopefully we’ll make 10 and be able to move to the next area tonight. He’s really looking forward to taking THF as sub. I suppose I am too, but I’m more keen on being able to rent Chocobos. I want to raise my own though!
Started learning more about crafting and crafting jobs, both of us peppering away at fishing and making a fair amount off Moat Carp. He’s going to start Smithing, and I’m undecided between Leatherworking, Fishing and Cooking. I might take all and leave Smithing and maybe Woodwork to him, but we’ll see. Fishing for the moment anyway.
Many deaths behind us now, because of Jaggedy and several other instances. Thank you to Daaku however, who stopped his very important business just to take care of us!
Alinys and Trisk started their adventures this weekend. We’ve both hit level 3, after a short period of time, and have already been followed around by a strange Hume whose name I’ve forgotten. He kept following us and standing behind us while we killed things, and eventually I said, in character, “May we help you, stranger?” He told me to invite him to the party, though in a very short and roundabout way, saying ‘invite me’ so I responded with, “There’s such a thing as politely requesting. Now be gone with you, foul creature.” I don’t think he appreciated it but he started following someone else around after that.
Apparently Phoenix is as bad as I was told, though luckily (kind of harsh of me to say so) my friend’s character, Eclips, is…well, gone because he forgot to resubscribe, and if it’s gone for good he’s starting a new character. Fenrir or Unicorn here we come!
Also, this blog is now the proud wielder of Wolfswift.com, so bookmark it!
Tabbichan will be absent from the field for a few days. -mutters- I didn’t lose the game disk and now need to reinstall it on a new PC…
Once she returns, this blog should officially be hosted on a domain of its own, Tabbichan should be slowly approaching taking on Thief as a subjob, or potentially restarting her career as a THF from the beginning so as to take on Beastmaster/Ranger later! Who knows. Alinys will also be starting her career within the next few days. Hurrah!
Why must I die so much? Poor Tabbichan died again, halfway to level 11, in the middle of a rank mission for Windurst. I was rather peeved to have to go back, and hadn’t had a chance to pick up all the Mana Orbs from the receptacles, so I have to run all the way back to the tower and get them. But it’s okay, no delevel this time!
Went on a selling spree to celebrate the lack of levelling down, and just got rid of all of my Leather kit (that I wasn’t still wearing!).
I need to get some piccies up and tidy up my blog over the weekend!
